Labradorite is a feldspar mineral that is made up of aggregate layers that refract light in an iridescent manner. It is found in sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks, however, it is a primary mineral in igneous rocks like basalt, gabbro, and norite. The iridescent effect labradorite produces is known as “labradorescence” where color gradually changes as your angle does. It was originally discovered in Labrador, Canada.
