Moss agate is not technically an agate because it is not banded, but is actually a variety of chalcedony quartz. It is a milky-white color with inclusions of manganese or iron that grow in a dendritic way creating an organic mossy appearance. Green moss agate contains green inclusions of minerals like chlorite or hornblende.
