This miraculous amethyst cathedral is so named because of its beautiful arch and height–like you might see in a church. These cathedrals are made from gas bubbles that became trapped in lava. Water and minerals seeping through the hardened cavities mixed with pressure are the perfect conditions for amethyst crystals to form.
