Concretion

This piece of stone that at first glance looks like a fossilized turtle shell or dried mud, is actually a compact mass of matter found in sedimentary rock that is formed when minerals precipitate into the crevices. Septarian concretions like this one are generally circular with cracks radiating out from the center.
