When you can't decide if your favorite color is purple or green, just get a stone that has both in them!
Fluorite (or fluorspar) can come in all different colors--the most common being purples, greens, blues and colorless. The color of fluorite comes from the purity of the stone and its exposure to radiation. Pure fluorite is colorless and transparent, but the more impure the mineral, the more colorful it will be.
This halide mineral got its name from the Latin word fluere, meaning "to flow." This mineral is used as a flux (a chemical flowing agent) in iron smelting. Some specimens also fluoresce (another word in which fluorite donated part of its name) in different colors, like purple, under UV light. It has a hardness of 4 with a cubic motif structure that has four perfect cleavage planes.
Metaphysical Meaning and Healing Properties: Fluorite is a protective and stabilizing stone that helps with focus and organization. It is associated with the fourth chakra (heart chakra), fifth chakra (throat chakra), and sixth chakra (third eye chakra). It also absorbs negative energies and promotes positivity. Known as the "homework stone," fluorite increases concentration. It is also believed this gemstone can improve balance and coordination, relieve pain from arthritis, and help with the immune system.
