A fragment of an iron-nickel meteorite was found in 1906 in a tundra near the Muonio River close to the border of Finland. Its discovery was significant because it was the first time stishovite--a very rare dense tetragonal form of silicon dioxide--was found in a meteorite. It shows excellent "widmanstatten" pattern (only formed in outer space by extremely slow cooling). Its composition contains elements such as nickel, stishovite, gallium, and iridium.
