Petrified Wood - Arizona

This ancient piece of wood has color and a beautiful striped pattern that is unmatchable! It is polished on one face, contrasting with the rough texture on the other sides. 

A golden sticker with the words "ARIZONA, Petrified Wood" is placed on the lower right polished face. 

Over 200 million years ago, logs were quickly carried away by rivers and deeply buried by sediment, depleting the oxygen and leaving the decay process to take hundreds of years. Minerals slowly replaced the organic material within the wood leading to a rainbow of colors and a fossilized state.
